Dear LGBTCC-IL Members and Friends,
It is with profound sadness that over the weekend, we learned of Elise Malary’s passing.
Many of us met Elise through our work for the LGBTQ+ community. A fierce advocate in particular for transgender, GNC, GNB and the black community, Elise was a true role model for LGBTQ+ advocacy in Chicago and beyond.
A testament to the number of lives she touched was the community coming together for a vigil over the weekend in Andersonville. Additionally, a chalk wall is available to share messages about Elise outside of Women & Children First bookstore to honor her memory.
Our thoughts are with Elise’s family, friends, connections and colleagues during this difficult time.
Rest in Power.
