ABC7 Chicago – With the passage of same-sex marriage in Illinois the business of weddings has grown big-time and Sunday there was a first of its kind expo design by local businesses for local same sex couples.To celebrate the passing of marriage equality in Illinois the Chicago Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce hosted, Finally Forever, a groundbreaking gay wedding expo in the 3100 block of N. Clark Street in the heart of Boystown. Several rooms were filled with wedding planners, florists, restaurants, caterers, travel agents, jewelers and even tailors and dressmakers to help couples plan their special day and honeymoon. Chicago Tribune – Starting this year, the longest day of the year will have a new meaning for Chicago residents Mark Rush and Luis Soria: It will be the day they celebrate what Soria calls the “longest journey of our lives.”

“It’s a big deal for us,” said Soria, who spent Sunday afternoon at a gay wedding expo in Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood to revel in the law legalizing same-sex marriage in Illinois. “We have a site we are looking at, and now we’re trying to get some ideas for the wedding.”

The expo, which was organized by the Chicago Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, drew 44 gay-owned or gay-friendly businesses that provide wedding services and planning, including Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, J&L Catering and J. Toor suits. READ MORE
